    Works as Advertised

I use Quickwood for repairs. There are (now) several brands of "tube" putty, but Quickwood is still the best I've used in terms of texture and working qualities. It works easily and sets up quickly (though can be easily removed for a couple of hours) and has very low odor. Great for very thin fills, edge repairs, or re-creating ornamental details, either by sculpting or molding. Will pick up very fine detail in a good mold. Is self-adhesive, but can also be molded separately and glued (or "puttied) in place. Can be carved or sanded in minutes and painted in an hour or so. My only complaint is that I can't get it in bigger packages (esp. the darker colors, which only come in 1-oz tubes). The dark "mahogany" putty hardens much quicker than the neutral; not necessarily bad, but helpful to know ahead of time. It has a very long shelf-life (I accidentally kept some for over a year once), though eventually it stiffens up. I've received it already a little stiff (though still usable) from some vendors. The order I got from Woodcraft was very fresh.

    Great Patch Material

I use this product in woodcarving to create bird feet, and patch spots which have chipped.

I only wish it was sold in larger sizes

Got it to repair child's chair that I thought was headed for trash-heap, due to mangled back spindle. Chunk of wood missing, making glueing impossible. QuikWood not only fastened spindle strongly & quickly, it also allowed me to easily recreate the entire missing section. It's actually Harder than the wood itself, and once sanded & painted, others were amazed that it wasn't the original piece, including me. Other uses: large patches in 100-year-old plaster, strong enough to hold up heavy mirrors & iron curtain rods; reattachment of stair-balluster which had been repeatedly glued/nailed without success; reattachment of newel-post ball on same 100-year-old staircase; stabilizing quite broken Dining Room table... Like I said, my only wish is that I could purchase QuikWood in a tub, as I use it Very often.

    Great Stuff

When you need a product like this, you really need it. Quickwood works very well. It sand out well and it takes opaque finishes well. I would not be without a stick in my shop.
